Mary Martha Holden
Pensacola, FL – Miss. Mary Martha Holden passed away on January 28th, 2018. Mary was a native of Grafton, West Virginia and a graduate of Murphy High School and Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. After working in San Fransico, New Orleans and Atlanta, she returned to Pensacola where she would live for the rest of her colorful life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Agnes Holden, and two brothers, James and Rufus Holden. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including her caregiver James Holden, and her namesake, Mary Holden, Jennifer (Michael) Samala, Elizabeth (Barrett) McClean, Wanda (Wayne) Meredith, James Marlowe, John (Patty) Marlowe, Rita (Fred) Conner, Susan (Dean) Clark and many grand nieces and nephews.
Mary was an original who marched to the beat of her own drummer, with a quick wit and a caring heart. A tireless walker, she was a moving fixture in downtown and North Hill, and her neighbors will fondly remember the welcome sight of her on her daily strolls. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Holden.
Memorial service to honor her eccentric spirit will be held on February 3rd at 1:00 at the Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
