Grzelakowski leads Pensacola to 8-3 win over Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — Taylor Grzelakowski hit a two-run home run and had two hits as the Pensacola Blue Wahoos defeated the Jackson Generals 8-3 on Sunday.

Pensacola broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth when Mitchell Kranson scored on an error and Grzelakowski scored on a passed ball.

After Pensacola added three runs in the sixth, the Generals cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Daulton Varsho hit a two-run home run.

Pensacola starter Devin Smeltzer (3-1) picked up the win after allowing four hits over five scoreless innings. Opposing starter Sam Lewis (1-2) took the loss in the Southern League game after he allowed two runs on just two hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Pensacola took advantage of some erratic Jackson pitching, drawing a season-high nine walks in its victory.
